DOULA PACKAGES

Elizabeth has doula-ed over a dozen couples. She is unique from most doulas in that she is passionate about not just doula-ing the mother but also teaching the father to be the mother's #1 birth coach. She will equip him with the tools he needs to feel confident, calm and informed through this amazing and sometimes scary experience.

What is a doula?

The word doula is a Greek word meaning women’s servant. Women have been serving others in childbirth for many centuries and have proven that support from another woman has a positive impact on the labor process.

My husband (partner) is my left hand and my doula is my right. – from Doulas Making a Difference

BIO

Hi, my name is Elizabeth Rose and I am a certified yoga instructor and birth doula.  If you have found your way to my website you are either looking for a yoga teacher, you are expecting a new baby soon or you are wanting to become a doula. Congratulations!! This is an exciting time in your life. You are on a new journey that will forever change who you will become. Let's first talk about yoga. Yoga came into my life at the young age of 17. My mother was told by her physician to embark on a yoga journey to balance her life due to a battle she would heroically move through - Cancer, a word that no-one ever wants to hear. I watched my mom grow through her 4os using the tools she gained from the amazing world of yoga. She fought like a beautiful, graceful champ. It was through her journey that I stepped into the magical experience that I can now call home. YOGA, this word means union. To me this is union first with yourself and then with the world around you. You see, yoga helps us slow down. It is a powerful tool that introduces us to our-selves. But I already know myself... you say... perhaps, that's what I thought too until I took my first yoga class. I walked away with a space in my perspective, an openness to a new life full of richness in the most fulfilling way.

I have had the opportunity to learn form an amazing teacher of the Hatha school of yoga. I am forever grateful for the inspiration she instilled in my curiosity of the practice - Beth Spindler, a Himalayan Institute resident and Yoga International renowned author and teacher. I am fascinated with all of the schools of yoga including Iyengar ( a school of yoga that uses props including blocks, straps, bolsters etc to train the muscles of the body to hold the proper alignment of the skeleton). I used Iyengar to heal my body both after a car accident in my early 20s and a ski accident where I tore my Acl, Mcl and Meniscus up at Sundance Mountain Resort. I also use Yin yoga ( a school of yoga in which you ground yourself using deep poses to release unwanted tension in both the body and the mind). With Yin, you find your edge of resistance in a pose, using the breath as the number one tool to release into the pose, creating space in the body and mind. And lastly, I practice Ashtanga yoga ( a school of yoga that has a specific set of poses and ethical life guidelines to discipline the mind). The goal is balance, and that life is all about balance.

It was through my yoga practice that I also became interested in the coaching of prenatal yoga and doulaing. Finding my way to Utah from the hills of Colorado I was asked by one of my students to be her birth coach. She said she couldn't imagine having her baby without me by her side. So I put some thought into it and became a doula. My approach to doulaing is much different from others in that I enjoy not just doulaing the mother but coaching the father to be the number one doula for his wife, giving him the tools he needs to feel confident in being there 100% for his beautiful wife.
