Advanced Doula Training
Mentorship Program Outline
Cost:$500
This is a 6 month mentorship with the potential to continue work with Elizabeth as an on call doula.
During this mentorship, protege will have the opportunity to work with Midwives at, Two Leaves Midwifery in Orem Utah or a local birthing center in your area. They will get the opportunity to get at least two births under their belt to complete their Basic Doula certification.
Doula trainee may also have the option to work one on one with Elizabeth and her personal clients that permit, as a backup doula. These are volunteer hrs that can be accounted for toward Basic Doula certification.
Elizabeth will provide Doula trainee with exposure to doula business. She will help with marketing, networking and building their doula business. This includes 1-2 doula clients of their own (within a year of signing contract).
Work on building a professional doula practice
Collaborative Team Care
Structure of prenatal and postpartum visits
Learn how to create a birth plan and what their client’s options are (outline is provided).
Pain Coping Techniques, Comfort Massage (applied skills) Rebozo use, to help baby get into optimal positioning for birth and alleviate discomfort.
Learn the Daddy (partner) Birth Coach class, Doula trainee can sit in on an in person class as an observer and can help assist the class.
*This class is designed for the dad or birth partner. This is usually a 1hr-2hr class for expecting couples. It can be taught as a private or group class. There is a lots of hands on work with couple.
This is what the DBC class consists of:
• How to create a birth plan, and clients options
Educate clients on how to know when mama is going into labor
Movements and techniques to help progress labor using yoga poses and other
Teach birth partner massage techniques for pain management and relaxation
Meditations to work on together and create a sense of calm and union in the birth space
Birthing poses and more (Clients and Doula trainee will receive the manual with everything that we will go over in class.)
Prenatal safe yoga poses to alleviate common prenatal pain
Postnatal safe yoga and care (this is not a prenatal/postnatal yoga certification, but can be used with clients that book with us).
Advocating for your client/Interacting with hospital staff
Supporting induction, epidural and hi-risk birth
Supporting Unexpected Outcomes: traumatic birth, prematurity, stillbirth
Supporting Optimal Fetal Positioning
Breastfeeding Counseling
Birth Recovery
Business Skills Workshop, creating a contract, payment plans, invoices, etc.
